We are looking for energetic individuals to join our growing gardening team! If you thrive in a small team environment, are passionate about gardening, and love getting your hands dirty, we want to meet you! Gardening experience is an asset, but we are willing to train the right individuals.

About the Position

Title: Landscape Gardener

Type: Seasonal part-time (up to 20 hours per week)

Positions Available: One

Duration: April 14 to October 30, 2025, with possibility of extension and to return annually

Work Hours: Between Monday and Friday, from 7:00 am to 5:00 pm, with weekends and public holidays off.

Location: The team meets each morning at pick-up locations and we then travel together in company vehicles to and from our client's properties throughout Peterborough County. Applicants must be willing and able to meet between Lakefield and Apsley, Ontario for work each day.

Wage: $20-$22/hour based on work experience

Duties

  • Identifying and thoroughly removing weeds and invasive plants

  • Pruning shrubs and small trees and deadheading perennials

  • Wheelbarrowing and spreading soil, mulch, and other garden materials

  • Lifting and carrying bagged garden materials repeatedly throughout the day

  • Planting perennials, trees and shrubs

  • Operating electric leaf blowers and trimmers

  • Maintaining a clean, safe, and organized work area

  • Cleaning, tightening, and sharpening garden tools

Requirements

  • Must have own a reliable vehicle to travel to work, as public transit is not available

  • Highly self-motivated with a strong attention to detail

  • Ability to work and thrive in a fast-paced outdoor environment

  • Ability to multi-task and work efficiently alone and as part of a team

  • Able to follow verbal instructions, learn new skills, and adapt

  • Positive attitude and communication

  • Excellent stamina, manual dexterity, and physical strength for lifting, bending, kneeling, and digging

  • Ability to work in challenging weather conditions for long periods, including humidity, heat, rain, and cold

  • Must be able to lift and carry materials up to 50lbs

Assets:

  • Gardening/landscaping experience

  • Related post secondary education and certifications

  • Valid First Aid Training
